Weizmann Institute of Science
The Weizmann Institute of Science (WI) in Rehovot, Israel, is devoted to wide-ranging multidisciplinary exploration of the natural, exact and life sciences. The Weizmann Institute is home to 2,500 scientists, students, technicians and supporting staff. Institute research efforts include research on strategies for protecting the environment, new energy resources, the search for new ways of fighting disease and hunger, examining outstanding and new questions in mathematics and computer science, probing the nature of matter and the universe, creating novel materials and in general, enriching human knowledge.
The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science consists of two departments: the Department of Mathematics, and the Department of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics. The research carried out in the faculty, in mathematics and its applications, and in computer science, ranges from abstract and theoretical considerations within mathematics and computer science, through using and applying mathematics and computer science in other sciences, to their application in concrete industrial developments.
