Universite Joseph Fourier
The University Joseph Fourier (UJF) is one of the oldest and biggest universities in France. UJF comprises numerous Institutes and Federative Units of Research (UFR) including the UFRs of Biology, Medecine, Mathemathiques, Informatics and Applied Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography, Mechanics, Physics, Pharmacy, etc. The University Joseph Fourier gave birth to two Nobel Prize winners. It is an internationally recognized center for its excellence in research and education, in particular in the fields of physics and mathematics. The new directions of research developed in UJF are focused on the interface of physics, chemistry and biology.
The Institute Albert Boniot (IAB) is affiliated to UJF and INSERM. IAB is composed of about 200 people. The general interest of the institute is the understanding of the fundamental mechanisms that govern cell and tissue differentiation. This theme is extended to similar processes that are involved during tumour initiation and progression. IAB is very well equipped and disposes of the state of the arts high technological platforms, including photonic microscopy and fluorescence correlation spectroscopy, murine transgenic facility, proteomic facility, non invasive imaging facility of small animals, etc. IAB is one of the leading centers of biomedical research in the region Rhône-Alpes, France.
